After your surgery, you will be moved to the recovery room and evaluated under close observation before being cleared after you wake up and your condition is stabilized. The following is a brief overview of what to expect after surgery:

  • Partial knee replacement patients are typically discharged after an adequate period of recovery and observation (usually 2 – 3 hours)
  • Length of hospital stay for total knee replacement is 1 – 3 days
  • Schedule postoperative physical therapy if haven't done so already
  • Attend 2-week postoperative visit with Skagit Northwest Orthopedics provider
  • Attend 6-week postoperative visit with your orthopedic surgeon
  • Perform exercises as recommended by physical therapist or those included in postoperative instructions
