“I was seen by Dr. Bullock in July of 2016 to discuss an injury to my right Achilles tendon. Dr. Bullock was very thorough in describing the different treatment options that were available based on my wants and needs going forward. I will be seeing Dr. Bullock again and am looking forward to discussing other options. The staff at Skagit Northwest Orthopedics have been friendly and professional at all of my visits.”

“I see Dr. Oates four times a year. He is a wonderful doctor! I have recommended him to other friends of mine who have had absolutely great results with his work. I always look forward to my visits with Dr. Oates! I get great relief in my shoulder and my knees as a result of seeing him....when I otherwise would be totally immobile! Thank you, Dr. Oates, for such great service and relief from chronic pain.”

“I've seen Dr. Hanesworth and Dr. Shafer also. Dr. Hanesworth also treated my husband Dallas, a few years prior to my becoming a patient.  What can I say?  There are not enough complimentary terms to describe my care from beginning to end.  They are terrific!  My experience has been nothing but positive and I would not hesitate, nor have I hesitated to refer someone needing orthopedic care to Skagit Northwest.  I have two knee replacements by Dr. Hanesworth and a badly broken upper arm repaired by Dr. Shafer.  In each case I was given the best care possible anywhere.  We are so fortunate to have physicians of this quality in our area.  I know by reputation there are others that are terrific as well. I could write all day but let this  suffice for now.  Skagit Northwest Orthopedics is the place where we, my husband and I, place our orthopedic trust.”

“Since last May I have had excruciating pain in both knees. I took down 90 ft of a 6ft cedar fence with a neighbor and I expect that is what woke “the sleeping giant”. I have been in considerable pain since then. I was told by a PA that I probably wouldn't find a surgeon that would do a total knee until I lost weight. Fair enough as my BMI was 41. I did an extremely restrictive diet and did lose 15 pounds. I had my knees injected with monovisk which didn't work. I tried Meloxican which I couldn't tolerate. I got a script for PT which I did religiously to try to get my upper legs strong enough to help recover from surgery if and when that might happen. By December of this year I could barely walk---the PT wasn't helping and was causing more knee pain. I felt I did EVERYTHING humanly possible to help my situation and yet no one was taking this situation with any kind of compassion or, in my opinion, kindness. I had a second set of X-rays ( at another office) which showed bone on bone in both knees. In desperation I made an appt with Carlos Aguero to see the other X-rays and to inject my knees with Toridol. I think he was surprised to see me barely walking and in tears and told me that Dr Hanesworth was in that day and asked me if would I like to see him---and for that I was extremely grateful. Dr Hanesworth saw the X-rays, asked which knee was in the most pain ( the X-rays showed that they were equally a mess) and injected the less painful leg with toridol. He then gave me a surgery slot on Dec 19th to get a total right knee and for that I am extremely grateful. The man showed a ton of kindness and compassion and I left the office with tears of relief. My replaced knee is wonderful. Yes, there has been pain with the incision site and with PT, but it is nothing compared to what I'd been experiencing for that 8 months!! I am extremely grateful that Carlos and DR Hanesworth realized that enough was enough and that surgery was the only solution. Sadly as my new wonderful knee heals I am realizing that my other knee will also need surgery as it is in considerable pain taking the brunt of things until my brain kicked in and realized that i now had a wonderful, strong and new knee!!!! Dr Hanesworth is a wonderfully gentle, kind and compassionate man and I look forward ( if that is possible) to having him replace my other knee at some point in the future!!!”

“Dr. Smith replaced both of my knee joints in 2010 and has not lost her touch. Her assessment of the condition of my left hip and her skills in surgery plus the total surgical team and the follow-up care at Island Hospital was top-notch. It was three weeks ago tomorrow that I stood by my bed a mere four hours after arriving in my room following surgery. I have already nearly “graduated” from physical therapy and am back walking daily which was my routine prior to surgery.”
